The name Peridot is of Greek origin but the original meaning is not known. The Egyptians made Peridot beads some 2,500 years ago and today important sources of Peridot are in Pakistan, Burma, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and the US. Most gems are formed in the Earth's crust. The two exceptions are Peridot and Diamond, which are formed much deeper in the Earth; in the mantle. Peridot forms in magma in the upper mantle, about 32 to 88 kilometres deep. It is brought to the surface by tectonic or volcanic activity.
Peridot is a little green nugget of positive power; a stone of knowledge and focus. It promotes abundance in all aspects of life including wealth, health, joy and wellbeing.
