Quartz is one of the most common minerals on earth which includes Smoky Quartz. Smoky Quartz can be found in many countries, including Brazil, Australia, Madagascar, Switzerland and the USA. It forms in prisms and can vary in colour from very pale tan to deep chocolate brown. While it is not known for certain, it is believed that the colour of Smoky Quartz comes from exposure to low grade radiation from uranium and thorium in rocks in the ground.
